Abstract:
To provide a hollow fiber reverse osmosis membrane with which a high level of permeability and removal performance is achieved, at a low cost of operation, when separating solids or separating solutes from a liquid mixture. A hollow fiber semipermeable membrane for reverse osmosis or forward osmosis comprising cellulose acetate, and characterized in that the 6 wt/vol% viscosity of the cellulose acetate is from 40 to 80 mPa・s, the external form of the hollow fiber semipermeable membrane is circular in cross-section and the interior form thereof is triangular in cross-section, the ratio of the membrane thickness (thinnest membrane thickness) near the vertices of the triangular cross-sectional interior form with respect to the membrane thickness (thickest membrane thickness) of the edge portions of said triangular form is 0.65 to 0.90, and the hollowness ratio of the hollow fiber semipermeable membrane is from 10 to 50%.
