Abstract:
A honeycomb structural body, comprising a plurality of honeycomb segments (1) of honeycomb structure partitioned by partition walls to form a large number of axially passing through-holes connected integrally with each other on the surfaces parallel with the axial directions (X) of the honeycomb segments (1), wherein the shortest distance (L1) between the gravity center of the honeycomb structural body in a vertical cross section relative to the axial direction (X) thereof and the connection parts (5) of the honeycomb segments (1) in the cross section is 1/10 or less of the maximum distance (L2) between the gravity center in the cross section and the outer periphery (9) of the honeycomb structural body in the cross section, whereby cracking due to a thermal stress becomes hard to occur and a durability can be increased.
