Abstract:
A honeycomb structure body that has less pressure loss and where the period to a recovery treatment can be prolonged. The honeycomb structure body is a pillar-like honeycomb body where a large number of through holes are arranged in the length direction with wall portions in between. Either of the ends of a through hole is sealed, and one end and the other end of the through hole have different opening areas. Ceramic that forms the wall portions has pores having an average diameter from 5 to 30 μm, and the proportion of the volume of fine pores having a pore diameter not less than two times the average pore diameter is not more than 30% relative to the volume of the whole pores.
