Abstract:
The present invention provides a honeycomb structure which has high NOx purification performance, high mechanical strength, and a low thermal expansion coefficient, even when the honeycomb structure is not impregnated or coated with a zeolite-containing solution after being manufactured. Provided is a honeycomb structure 11 shaped such that a plurality of cells 12 extending from one end face 11a to the other end face 11b along the longitudinal direction X are partitioned by cell walls 13, the honeycomb structure 11 including a sintered body of a raw material mixture which contains, in terms of oxides, 10-40 mol% of zeolite and potassium, 2.5-20 mol% of an element A which is at least one selected from among alkaline earth metals, 10-40 mol% of aluminum, 2.5-20 mol% of an element M which is at least one among titanium and iron, and 1-75 mol% of silicon.
