Abstract:

A honeycomb structure 10 having a plurality of square pillar-shaped honeycomb calcined bodies 40 bonded together with adhesive layers 35 therebetween, the honeycomb calcined bodies 40 including multiple through holes aligned in a longitudinal direction a and separated from each other by partition walls. The honeycomb structure 10 comprises a ring-shaped protrusion 15 that surrounds the outer circumferential surface 11 of the structure along the entire circumference, the volume of 30-50% of the ring-shaped protrusion 15 being composed of a filling member. Consequently, the present invention reduces the cost and improves the strength of the honeycomb structure having the ring-shaped protrusion.
