Abstract:
Provided is a hot-rolled steel sheet to be used as base material for an electric resistance welded steel pipe having high strength as well as excellent processability and toughness, which is suitable for steel pipes for mechanical structures used in parts of motor vehicles, construction machines and industrial machinery. The hot-rolled steel sheet has a predetermined component composition and has a thick central steel structure containing bainite in a volume ratio of 90% or more, the remainder being at least one of ferrite, perlite, martensite and austenite. Furthermore, this thick central steel structure has an average crystal particle diameter of 10.0 μm or less, a volume fraction of crystal particles of 40 μm or more of 40% or less, and a number density of Ti-based inclusions having a length of 5.0 μm or more of 20 moeities/mm2 or less.
