A hybrid vehicle diagnostic device comprises: an internal combustion engine; an accumulator device; an electric motor which generates drive force for vehicle travel at least with the accumulated electricity of the accumulator device; a diagnostic means for diagnosing a vehicle state when the output of the internal combustion engine is zero; a state detection means for detecting a state of the accumulator device; a remaining time acquisition means for acquiring time remaining which is required for completing the diagnostic when the vehicle state is being diagnosed by the diagnostic means; a determination means for determining, when the vehicle state is being diagnosed by the diagnostic means, whether to continue the diagnostic of the vehicle state by the diagnostic means, based on the state of the accumulator device which is detected by the state detection means and the remaining time which is acquired by the remaining time acquisition means; and a control means for controlling the continuance and suspension of the diagnostic of the vehicle state according to the result of the determination of the determination means.
