A hydraulic pressure generation device with improved spool valve responsiveness and a spool position estimation device are provided. The hydraulic pressure generation device is equipped with a regulator 15a comprising: a cylinder body 15a1; a spool 15a2 which slides inside the cylinder body 15a1; a pilot chamber R11 into which a pilot pressure is input as a hydraulic pressure for causing the spool 15a2 to move along an axial direction; and an output chamber R12 from which an output pressure is output as a hydraulic pressure in accordance with the pilot pressure. The hydraulic pressure generation device is equipped with: a spool position acquisition part 17c for acquiring a relative position of the spool 15a2 to the cylinder body 15a1; and a pilot pressure control part 17d for controlling the pilot pressure on the basis of the relative position acquired by the spool position acquisition part 17c.
