Abstract:
The present invention provides: a hydrophobically modified polyether urethane polymer represented by general formula (1); a viscosity modifier made of said polymer; an aqueous composition containing said polymer and water; and a method for imparting thixotropy to an aqueous composition containing water. (In the formula, R1 and R9 each independently represent a C6-30 saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group or a C6-30 unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group, R2, R3, R10, and R11 each independently represent a C6-24 alkyl group or a C6-24 alkenyl group, R4, R6, and R8 each independently represent a C2-4 alkylene group, R5 and R7 each independently represent a C6-16 divalent hydrocarbon group, a and d each independently represent a number of 0 or 1, b and c each independently represent a number of 0 or 1, l and n each independently represent a number of 0-200, x represents a number of 0-10, and m represents a number of 20-500.)
