Abstract:
This identification device is provided with: an image capture condition determining unit that determines, from an observation angle of an image capturing direction of the captured image data with respect to a reference line for a surface being observed, an image capture condition under which whether or not an image of optical change in the counterfeit preventing medium can be captured is determined, the surface being of the counterfeit preventing medium for which observation angle change changes an observed light pattern; a degree-of-similarity calculating unit that obtains, when it is determined that the image can be captured under the image capture condition, the degree of similarity between the captured image data and correct image data generated from the optical change corresponding to the observation angle; and an authenticity determining unit that performs authenticity determination as to whether or not the counterfeit preventing medium is correct depending on whether or not the degree of similarity exceeds a preset threshold.
