Abstract:
A server apparatus receives image data on a bar code displayed on a cellular telephone and read by a vending machine or the like and converts the bar code into a numeric value by a predetermined method. The server apparatus calculates the remainder “a” of division of the bar code value by a divisor A and the remainder “b” of division of the bar code value by a divisor B. The least common denominator of A and B is greater than a difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the bar code value. The server apparatus references a pointer at a storage position corresponding to the remainder “a” in a first table (111) and a pointer at a storage position corresponding to the remainder “b” in a second table (112). When the same user information of a user database (107) is reached from the first table (111) and the second table (112), the server apparatus authenticates the user.
