Abstract:
In a thermal engine or a plasma apparatus, for example, a reciprocating engine, a
rotary engine, a jet engine, or a gas turbine, even when the proportion of a fuel in
a fuel-air mixture is reduced followed by a combustion reaction of a lean mixture, a
stable and high-efficiency combustion reaction can be realized to realize stabilized
ignition, improved flame propagation speed, improved output, cleaned exhaust
gas, stabilized ignition of heterogeneous fuel-air mixture, improved fuel
consumption and the like. Permittivity control means for introducing water and/or
exhaust gas into a combustion reaction chamber (8) to control the permittivity of
a fuel-air mixture within the combustion reaction chamber (8), a microwave radiation
antenna (1) for radiating microwaves into the combustion reaction chamber (8),
and discharge part (2) for igniting a fuel-air mixture in the combustion reaction
chamber (8) are provided. The permittivity control means controls the permittivity
of the fuel-air mixture before the combustion reaction of the fuel-air mixture
to match the resonance frequency of the fuel-air mixture with the frequency of
the microwave.
