Abstract:
The present invention provides an illuminating device, a method for determining disposition of a light-guiding plate, and a printing system, in which the appropriate disposition of a light-guiding plate is defined according to the condition of the light-guiding plate. In an illuminating device provided with a light-guiding plate (32) that utilizes total reflection, the light-guiding plate is disposed at a position where the distance from an emission surface (35) to a region to be illuminated is greater than or equal to Lt, which is calculated by Lt = ((1/2)×(n1/n2)×W)/tanθimax where W is the total length in the thickness direction of the light-guiding plate, n1 is the refractive index of the periphery of the light-guiding plate, n2 is the refractive index of the light-guiding plate, and θimax is the maximum incident angle on a first surface according to the number of times of reflection.
