An illuminating device comprising a plurality of luminous elements (L1-Ln) serving as light sources, luminous element drive units (71-7n) so constructed as to respectively light and drive the plurality of luminous elements, an optical member so constructed as to lead the output lights from the luminous elements lighted by the luminous element drive units to an area to be illuminated for illuminating it, a light control member so constructed as to change the light paths of the output lights for illuminating the area to be illuminated and/or move the luminous elements, a movable unit so constructed as to drive the light control member so as to be operable, and a light selection/control unit so constructed as to control the movable unit and/or the luminous element drive units so that light for illuminating the area to be illuminated can be selected from among output lights of the plurality of the luminous elements.
