Abstract:
 Provided is an illumination apparatus capable of emitting illumination light at a significant incline and illuminating a wide area while having a thin and simple structure. This illumination apparatus has: a light source and a light-guide plate provided with: an incident surface for allowing entry of light emitted from the light source, the incident surface being disposed along the light source; a first main surface for emitting light incident from the incident surface; a second main surface facing the first main surface; and a tapered end face facing the incident surface, the end face forming an acute angle with the first main surface, the second main surface having V-groove shapes comprising first inclined surfaces disposed closer to the first main surface with increase in the distance from the incident surface, and second main surfaces disposed farther away from the first main surface with increase in the distance from the incident surface, the equations below being satisfied, where θ1(°) is the angle between the first inclined surfaces and the second main surface, and θ2(°) is the angle between the second inclined surfaces and the second main surface. 4 ≤ θ1 ≤ 14 (1) θ1 ≤ θ 2 (2)
