Abstract:
This illumination device for an endoscope comprises: a light source unit that includes a light-emitting element that emits excited light, and a fluorescent body that is excited by the excited light and emits fluorescent light, and radiates illumination light obtained by combining the excited light and the fluorescence; and a light distribution lens that has a light-emitting surface from which the illumination light incident from the light source unit is emitted. The light-emitting surface includes a first light-emitting surface and a second light-emitting surface that are formed in different regions within the light-emitting surface. In this illumination device for an endoscope, the thickness of the light-emitting element and the thickness of the fluorescent body are prescribed such that the excited light and the fluorescent light which are radiated at the same angle from the light source unit and incident on the light distribution lens are respectively emitted in substantially the same direction from the first light-emitting surface or the second light-emitting surface.
