Abstract:
Provided is an illumination device for projecting a projection pattern including information onto a projection surface. The illumination device is provided with: a light source for emitting coherent light; and a diffracting optical element which projects a projection pattern by diffracting the coherent light from the light source. The diffracting optical element has diffraction characteristics such that predetermined information is visually recognized with a predetermined size, shape, and inclination angle when an observer has turned his or her line of view from a viewpoint position to a first line of view direction with reference to the position and direction of the diffracting optical element.
