Abstract:
The invention relates to an illumination system (1), in particular for a medical therapy and/or diagnostic system, comprising at least one laser light source (10) and an optical waveguide (30) which, at a proximal end, can be connected to and/or associated with the at least one laser light source (10), and, at the distal end of the optical waveguide (30), having a diffuser element (40) which substantially has a radial, spherical emission characteristic. The diffuser element (40) comprises at least one diffuser main body (43), and the diffuser main body (43) comprises an inorganic material, in particular a glass, a glass ceramic, a glass-like material or a composite material consisting of the aforementioned materials, and preferably at least one diffusing element (43.6), and the surface of the at least one diffuser main body (43) is pore-free and smooth. Such an illumination system (1) can be used inter alia in particular in the fields of photodynamic therapy (PDT), photoimmunotherapy (PIT), ophthalmology, and in the dental field.
