Abstract:
The present invention selects an object having a high degree of attention from among objects detected by a detection means, calculates the brightness of an image-captured image using the corresponding area of interest as a detection frame, and exercises exposure control on the basis of the calculated brightness. The nearer the distance, the higher the degree of attention is evaluated. Or, the nearer the direction is to the direction of advance, the higher the degree of attention is evaluated. The smaller the distance to the object, the more the area of interest is increased. The size of the area of interest may be determined on the basis of the result of discrimination that is made as to the type of object. The subject of interest is made clearly visible.
