Abstract:
A horizontal difference calculating section (21) finds the difference in pixel level between adjacent pixels abutting the border between horizontally adjacent decoded blocks and belonging to the respective blocks and that between pixels belonging to horizontally adjacent decoded blocks. A horizontal continuity detecting section (23) detects the continuity between horizontally adjacent blocks. Vertical difference calculating section (22) and vertical continuity detecting section (24) operate similarly. A block continuity detecting section (25) detects the continuity between adjacent blocks. An error macro block detecting section (26) detects an error macro block based on the results of detection by the block continuity detecting section (25).
