Abstract:
An image display apparatus comprising reflex spatial light modulators of non-light-emissive type; an illuminating apparatus for illuminating the reflex spatial light modulators; and a projection lens. A light from a light source (2) illuminates the reflex spatial light modulators (14,15) through first and second fly-eye integrators (9,10). Unmodified unnecessary light as reflected by the reflex spatial light modulators is further reflected by a reflection plate (4), being reused. The fly-eye integrators have been offset relative to the light axis, whereby the light usage rate can be improved and illumination unevenness can be prevented.
