Abstract:
Disclosed is an image display device, comprising an excited light source (5); a fluorescent light screen (6), further comprising a plurality of fluorescent light body regions (61, 62, 63) that are positioned periodically in the in-plane direction, and wherein regions between the respective fluorescent light body regions are retroreflective regions (64) that make light that is incident thereon return in the opposite direction to the direction of incidence thereof; a scan means (4) for scanning the fluorescent light screen (6) with a light beam from the excited light source (5); light sensor means (2, 3) for sensing retroreflective light (7) reflected from the retroreflective regions (64); and a control means (1) for carrying out scans by the scan means (4), sensing boundaries between each fluorescent light body region (61, 62, 63) and the retroreflective regions (64) upon the fluorescent light screen (6) on the basis of the output of the light sensor means (2, 3), and controlling the light emission timing of the excited light source (5) on the basis of the sensed boundaries.
