Abstract:
To provide an image display device in which, by a simple configuration and while suppressing color unevenness, a display field angle region can be enlarged to display more information. An image display device 10 comprises: an image forming part 13 having a plurality of pixels that emits image light from the pixels; an optical system 12 that converts image light at each image height emitted from the image forming part to parallel light in a field angle; a light guide plate 11 on which the image light converted by the optical system is incident, the light being propagated inside the light guide plate 11 and emitted to the outside; a first diffraction grating 14 that is provided to the light guide plate and that diffractively reflects the image light incident on the light guide plate to propagate the light through the inside of the light guide plate; and a second diffraction grating 15 that is provided to the light guide plate and that diffractively reflects the image light propagated through the inside of the light guide plate to emit the light to the outside from the light guide plate, the image forming part 13 dividing the image light into a plurality of colors of light.
