Abstract:
The present invention relates to an image display device and an operation method thereof. The image display device according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a housing; a display for displaying an image; a driving unit for changing the size of a display area which is the area in the entire area of the display that is exposed to the outside of the housing; and a control unit, wherein the control unit may: determine whether an image displayed through at least a portion of the display area is a static image when the size of the display area is smaller than the size of the entire area; when it is determined that the image is a static image, determine whether the static image is displayed for a certain period of time or longer; when it is determined that the static image is displayed for the certain period of time or longer, control the driving unit such that the size of the display area is changed; and control the display such that the image is displayed corresponding to the changed size of the display area. Various other embodiments are possible.
