Abstract:

An image display comprising an enclosure having a first substrate and a second substrate disposed oppositely to the first substrate with a gap therebetween, and a plurality of pixels provided in the enclosure. Between the first and second substrates in the enclosure, a plurality of spacers (30a) for supporting the atmospheric pressure load exerted on the first and second substrates are provided. Over the entire surface of the spacer, irregularities (50) having Ra of 0.2-0.6 µm and Sm of 0.02-0.3 mm are formed. The surface of the spacer is coated with a conductive material and separated coatings (54) are formed. Since the coatings (54) are divided by the irregularities, a film having a higher resistance can be formed and discharge can be suppressed.
