Abstract:
Disclosed is an image encoding method which includes: a motion vector acquisition step (S101) for acquiring a plurality of macroblock motion vectors; a specifying step (S102) for specifying a local block of interest (220) larger in size than a macroblock; a local vector calculation step (S103) for calculating a local vector of interest (214) that indicates the motion of the local block of interest (220); a global vector calculation step (S104) for calculating a global vector (216) that indicates all motion in past images; a representative vector determination step (S105) for determining the local vector of interest (214) or the global vector (216) as a representative vector (217); and a motion vector calculation step (S106) for determining a search range (241) using the representative vector (217), and calculating a motion vector (130) of a macroblock to be processed, using the search range (241) determined.
