Abstract:
An image erasing device for erasing an image formed on a medium by heating the medium, the image being form on the medium by using a material that can be erased by heating. The image erasing device has a body section (1) having a loading opening (78) through which the medium is loaded, a first heat source (27) provided in the body section (1) and heating the medium, a lid section (3) provided on the body section (1) so as to be pivotable about a pivot shaft (42) and opening and closing the loading opening (78), a second heat source (51) provided in the lid section (3) and heating the medium from the side opposite to the first heat source (27) with the lid section (3) closed, and a lock mechanism (80) switching between a lock state in which the lid section (3) is locked into a closed state on the side opposite to the pivot shaft (42) and an un-lock state in which the lid section (3) is unlocked.
