The present invention improves estimation performance of an estimation engine even when a small number of training images are used.　This image estimation method includes: a step of acquiring multiple training images f obtained by imaging a learning target; a step of generating multiple transformed images f' by applying transformation processing to the multiple training images f; a step of determining internal parameters of a machine-learning-type estimation engine by using the multiple transformed images f'; a step of acquiring an input image h obtained by imaging the actual target; a step of generating a transformed image h' by applying the transformation processing to the input image h; a step of estimating an estimated image H' by inputting the transformed image h' to the trained estimation engine; a step of generating an inverse-transformed estimated image H by applying inverse transformation processing of a part or all of the transformation processing to the estimated image H'; and a step of outputting the inverse-transformed estimated image H as an output image. In the transformation processing, image processing involving adjustment of at least one transform item is used in order to unify patterns of the multiple training images f with respect to the transform item.
