Abstract:
The present invention comprises an optical scanning device and a cleaning mechanism. The optical scanning device has a photoreceptor, an opening part that allows laser light that scans the photoreceptor to pass to the outside, and a transmission member that covers the opening part. The cleaning mechanism is for cleaning the transmission member and has a motor, a cleaning member that contacts the transmission member, and a movement unit that uses drive force from the motor to move the cleaning member along the scanning direction of the laser light. The length, in a direction that is orthogonal to the scanning direction, of the area of the cleaning member at which the cleaning member contacts the transmission member is equal to or less than the length of the opening part in the direction that is orthogonal to the scanning direction.
