Abstract:
An image forming apparatus provided with a main controller (70) for generating image data from data received from the external host computer and a mechanical body controller (80) for controlling mechanical elements for performing a printing sequence. The controller (80) produces information on timings in the printing sequence such as a paper feed start timing, a printing ready timing and a paper delivery completion timing in response to signals from a paper feed detector (15) and a paper delivery detector (40), and notifies the information to the main controller (70). Although the main controller (70) itself has not a timer for monitoring the printing sequence, it can monitor the printing sequence based on the information thus notified.
