Abstract:
An image forming method characterizing by comprising the steps of: ink-jet-printing on either a film of a resin or the ink-jet receiving layer of an ink receiving film having the ink-jet receiving layer on a support having a resin layer on the surface, with ink containing sublimating or volatile dye; then heating the ink-jet receiving layer having a printed image, to diffuse the printed image into the resin film or the surface resin layer on the substrate; and next separating the ink-jet receiving layer as a film layer. By using the ink-jet printer, a clear full-color image can be applied to an arbitrary film product having a resin layer on its surface while retaining the gloss of the surface. For a film product in a sheet shape, on the other hand, there is eliminated the work, otherwise essential for the sublimating heat transfer dyeing method of the prior art, of registering the transfer paper with the film product precisely, so that a full-color image of a predetermined size can be formed conveniently at a reasonable cost.
