Abstract:
Provided are an image generation device and an imaging device that are capable of generating a sharp color image having excellent color reproducibility even when captured in an environment with inadequate visible light. This image generation device 10 is provided with a first color signal generation unit 1 which generates three or more types of first color signals R1, G1, B1 by synthesizing, at a given ratio, three or more types of visible light signals SR, SG, SB outputted from a solid-state image sensing element with two or more types of near-infrared light signals SIR1, SIR2 acquired at the same time as the visible light signals SR, SG, SB. The near-infrared light signals SIR1, SIR2 are respectively a signal based on near-infrared light having a peak wavelength in the range of 700-870 nm and a signal based on near-infrared light having a peak wavelength in the range of 870-1100 nm. The first color signal generation unit 1 varies the synthesis ratio between the visible light signals SR, SG, SB and the near-infrared light signals SIR1, SIR2 in accordance with the quality and/or the intensity of the respective light signals.
