Abstract:
An image generation unit (S9) uses images captured of the area around a vehicle, as acquired by an image capturing unit, to generate images of the vehicle and the surrounding area as seen from a virtual viewpoint set outside of the vehicle. A path prediction unit (S5) predicts the travel path of the vehicle on the basis of the driving state of the vehicle. An image synthesis unit (S11) makes either an image of the car from the images generated by the image generation unit or an image of the predicted travel path into an image with transparency, and superimposes the resulting image on the other image and an image of the surrounding area generated by the image generation unit.
