Abstract:
In the present invention, without providing a complicated mechanism, changes in the amount of parallax between frames are reduced and easily viewable stereoscopic view is obtained. Using a plurality of image pick-up means, the same image pick-up subject is continuously picked up one frame at a time, and an object showing the subject is detected from each image of the picked-up frames. In a case where a plurality of objects are detected, a subject distance range is calculated, where the subject distance range indicates the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the distance between each of the objects and the image pick-up means. In a case where the difference between the subject distance range of the current frame and the subject distance range of a prior frame is great, the subject distance range of the current frame is adjusted so that such difference is reduced. On the basis of a pre-established relationship between a subject distance range and an appropriate parallax amount corresponding to the subject distance range, a parallax amount corresponding to the calculated range or the adjusted range is calculated. On the basis of the calculated parallax amount, a stereoscopic image corresponding to each of the frames is generated from a plurality of viewpoint images picked up by the image pick-up means, and the generated image is stored.
