Abstract:
This invention provides an image pickup apparatus wherein a pixel unit and an A/D conversion unit are divided into first and second clusters. The first cluster comprises: a plurality of pixel columns including a first pixel column; and a plurality of A/D converters corresponding to the respective pixel columns. The second cluster comprises: a plurality of pixel columns, a plurality of A/D converters corresponding to the respective pixel columns; and an additional A/D converter. The pixels of the first pixel column are connected to the corresponding A/D converter and to the additional A/D converter.
