Abstract:
Provided is an image pickup device capable of accurately performing AF regardless of a subject to be photographed while achieving an increase in the speed of AF. When an AF instruction is given, photographing is performed while a focus lens is being moved, and an AF evaluation value is calculated by a contrast AF processing unit (19) at each focus lens position. The contrast AF processing unit (19) calculates an acutance near a maximum point of an evaluation value curve from three AF evaluation values: a maximum value among the calculated AF evaluation values; and AF evaluation values calculated at positions in front of and behind a focus lens position corresponding to the maximum value, and information relating to focus lens positions corresponding thereto, and calculates a focusing position by a calculation method selected from among multiple kinds of calculation methods according to the acutance.
