Abstract:
Sub-polygons constituting a smooth three-dimensional shape are generated from a polygon. A Bezier curve used as an interpolating line (B¿12?) for interpolating the portion between vertexes (P¿1?, P¿2?) of a rectangular polygon (P¿1?P¿2?P¿4?P¿3?) is generated from normal vectors (n¿1?, n¿2?), and an interpolating line (B¿34?) for interpolating the portion between vertexes (P¿3?, P¿4?) from normal vectors (n¿3?, n¿4?). Hence interpolating points (P¿12?, P¿34?) are determined on the interpolating lines (B¿12?, B¿34?). Similarly, an interpolating line (B¿13?) for interpolating the portion between the vertexes (P¿1?, P¿3?) and an interpolating line (B¿24?) for interpolating the portion between the vertexes (P¿2?, P¿4?) are generated, and thereby interpolating points (P¿13?, P¿24?) are determined on the interpolating lines (B¿13?, B¿24?). Further similarly, an interpolating line (B¿1234?) for interpolating the portion between the interpolating points (P¿12?, P¿34?) is generated, and hence an interpolating point (P¿1234?) is determined on the interpolating line (B¿1234?). Thus, the rectangular polygon (P¿1?P¿2?P¿4?P¿3?) is divided into four rectangular sub-polygons (P¿1?P¿12?P¿1234?P¿13?, P¿12?P¿2?P¿24?P¿1234?, P¿1234?P¿24?P¿4?P¿34?, P¿13?P¿1234?P¿34?P¿3?).
