Abstract:
According to the present invention, a quantized value for a pixel of interest in an input image is derived by using a prescribed threshold matrix. Then, on the basis of a group of pixel values in a prescribed reference region including the pixel of interest in the input image and a group of thresholds corresponding to the group of pixel values, the direction of correction for setting the number of dots in the reference region to a target number is determined. Furthermore, it is determined on the basis of the group of pixel values and the group of thresholds whether or not it is possible to make a change as to whether or not to record dots at the pixel of interest. Then, the quantized value is corrected on the basis of the results of both of these determinations.
