Abstract:
Provided is an image processing device, comprising: a filter unit (101) which separates an inputted image (DIN) into a base component and a detail component, using an edge-preserving smoothing filter; a flat region assessment unit (103) which generates a flat region map for use in identifying a flat region in the inputted image (DIN), using a characteristic level signal which is computed with the filter unit (101); a gain adjustment unit (104) which, on the basis of the flat region map, generates a gain-adjusted detail component in which the gain of the detail component has been adjusted; and a component compositing unit (105) which generates an enhanced image in which the base component and the gain-adjusted detail component have been composited.
