Abstract:
The present disclosure pertains to an information processing device and method with which it is possible to suppress any increase in the burden of decoding a point cloud. In the present disclosure, auxiliary patch information that pertains to a patch in which a point cloud representing a three-dimensionally shaped object as a set of points is projected onto a two-dimensional plane for each partial region is generated so as to correspond to all of a plurality of frames constituting a prescribed time-direction section of the point cloud, a patch is generated using the generated auxiliary patch information for each frame in the section, and a frame image in which the generated patches are arranged is encoded. The present disclosure may be applied, for example, to an image processing device, an electronic device, an image processing method, a program, or the like.
