Abstract:
A storage device 52 stores hierarchical data of a background map, a color map of an object, and a height map of the object, in a plurality of resolutions, said data being stored as reference maps 50a, 50b, and 50c. This image processing device continuously loads, to a main memory 26, a portion to the data required for drawing, said loading being carried out in accordance with movement of the point of view and the like, and decodes and expands a portion thereof, which is then deployed to a memory 56 in a GPU 24. The GPU 24 refers to that data through ray tracing, and draws a display image 58.
