Abstract:
The pixel values of an area where a motion of picked-up image data exists can be efficiently corrected. The correction of the pixel values of a particular area, such as an area where any motion exists, comprises the steps of setting an initial value of the difference between or the ratio of an image data in which the white balance has been adjusted and an image data in which a flash light emission exists; transforming the initial value in accordance with a transformation formula specifying a weight based on the image data in which the flash light emission exists or a smoothing filter to calculate estimated values of the image difference or image ratio in the area where the motion exists; and using the estimated values to correct the pixel values of the area where the motion exists. After the white balance adjustment using a low-resolution image and after the correction of the pixel values of the area where the motion exists, a high-resolution corrected image is produced based on the correspondence of the corrected image and the low-resolution image data.
