Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an image projection device that can display 3-D images without sacrificing brightness or resolution and can switch between 3-D and 2-D for displaying. [Solution] The image projection device is constituted by including: a light source; an illuminating optical system; a three-piece first reflective light valve group (9A) that modulates incident light on the basis of first image information; a three-piece second reflective light valve group (9B) that modulates incident light on the basis of second image information; a first prism type light combining member (6A) that combines light reflected by the first reflective light valve group (9A) on one optical axis; a second light combining member (6B) that combines light reflected by the second reflective light valve group (9B) on one optical axis; and a prism type light splitter (18) that combines light reflected by the first reflective light valve group (9A) and light reflected by the second reflective light valve group (9B) on one optical axis.
