Abstract:
Provided is a printer with which the required effort and operation time for an operator during installation can be reduced. A transmission address of an information processing device and an IP address set in a communication management database are stored in an IC memory of a cartridge mounted in a printer 10. A total communication setting to be registered in a router is registered in the communication management database. A controller of the printer acquires the transmission address and the IP address from the IC memory of the cartridge mounted in a mounting case (S31). The controller stores, in an EEPROM, the acquired transmission address and the IP address as a communication setting (S32). The controller generates a request including information indicating a remaining amount value, low ink, or a breakdown (S35). The controller transmits, to a LAN using the IP address stored in the EEPROM as a transmission source, the generated request addressed to the information processing device indicated by the transmission address (S36).
