Abstract:
The embodiments of the present application relate to the field of image processing. Disclosed are an image rendering method and an electronic device. The efficient execution of shadow rendering is realized by means of on-chip storage. A large amount of data read and write between a GPU and a memory during a shadow rendering process is prevented, thereby reducing the data read and write pressure between the GPU and the memory. The specific solution involves: performing rendering according to a first rendering instruction, so as to acquire a depth rendering result of a first image frame, wherein the depth rendering result is stored in a memory of an electronic device; performing rendering according to a second rendering instruction, so as to acquire a normal rendering result of the first image frame, wherein the normal rendering result is stored in an on-chip storage area of a graphics processing module of the electronic device; and according to the depth rendering result and the normal rendering result, acquiring a shadow rendering result matching a shadow area, wherein the shadow area is an area displayed as a shadow effect in the first image frame, and the shadow rendering result matching the shadow area can be understood as the display of the shadow area possibly being performed according to the shadow rendering result.
