Title:
IMAGING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/141914
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
An imaging device capable of well extracting a partial image such as a horizontally oblong image from a captured image. The imaging device comprises an imaging element (31) disposed in the optical path of the light beam from the field to be imaged and adapted for capturing an image, extracting sections (35, 37) for extracting a partial image as necessary from the image captured by the imaging element (31), and a light-diminishing mechanism for inserting/removing a light-diminishing member (36) into/from the light beam from the field directed toward a region out of the effective region for the partial image of the imaging element (37). When a partial image is captured, the light-shielding member (36) is driven to diminish the unwanted light. As a result, the phenomenon that the pixels in the image are saturated by the influence of the pattern outside the image can be avoided.
