Abstract:
This invention provides a compact, inexpensive imaging device that makes it possible, without the provision of multiple image sensors, to simultaneously capture a wide-angle image and a telephoto image of an arbitrary region of said wide-angle image. An imaging device in one mode of this invention is provided with imaging optics (12), a directional sensor (17), a pan/tilt mechanism (32), and an image acquisition unit (22). The imaging optics (12) comprise wide-angle optics and telephoto optics laid out in different regions. The directional sensor (17) has a plurality of pixels comprising photoelectric conversion elements arrayed two-dimensionally and performs pupil division on and selectively receives luminous flux incident via the wide-angle optics and the telephoto optics. The pan/tilt mechanism (32) moves the imaging axis of the telephoto optics relative to the imaging axis of the wide-angle optics. The image acquisition unit (22) acquires both a wide-angle image received from the directional sensor (17) via the wide-angle optics and a telephoto image received from the directional sensor (17) via the telephoto optics.
