Abstract:
The present technology pertains to an imaging element that enables pixels of different sizes to be efficiently arranged. The present technology also pertains to an electronic device. This imaging element comprises a first photoelectric conversion unit that generates a charge according to an amount of light, and a second photoelectric conversion unit that has a smaller light-receiving surface area than the first photoelectric conversion unit. In a planar view, the first photoelectric conversion unit is an L-shape, the second photoelectric conversion unit is a quadrilateral shape, and a shape combining the first photoelectric conversion unit and the second photoelectric conversion unit is a quadrilateral shape. The present technology can be applied, for example, to an imaging device that has, arranged therein, pixels having different light-receiving surface areas and processes a signal from each of the pixels, thereby acquiring a wide dynamic range image.
