Abstract:
An aspect of an imaging mass spectrometer according to the present invention comprises: a measurement unit (3) which performs LC/MS analysis for individual samples that have been respectively collected from a plurality of micro regions set in a measurement region on a sample and which acquires, for each sample, three-dimensional data having dimensions that are a retention time, m/z, and a signal strength; a heat map creation unit (42, 43) which integrates or averages signal strengths for each combination of the retention time and m/z to obtain a representative signal strength value on the basis of three dimensional data that has been acquired by the measurement unit for the plurality of micro regions included in the whole or a part of the measurement region and which creates a heat map that indicates the representative signal strength value by a shade or color, with the retention time and m/z as respective axes; an instruction reception unit (46) which displays the heat map on a display screen and enables a user to designate a specific position or range on the heat map; and an image creation unit (44) which identifies a retention time and m/z corresponding to the designated position or range and which extracts pieces of data corresponding to the retention time and m/z from the three dimensional data to create an image indicating a two dimensional distribution of signal strengths.
