Abstract:
An imaging optical system 10 comprises, in order from the object side, a front group LF, an aperture stop S, and a back group LB. The front group LF includes a first lens L1 which has negative refractive power. The back group LB includes a fourth lens L4 which is disposed closest to the object side and which has positive refractive power, and a seventh lens L7 which is disposed closest to the image side and has negative refractive power, and in which the surface on the image side has an extreme value at a position other than an intersection point with an optical axis. The imaging optical system 10 satisfies the following conditional expression. (1): 0.6<(R1-R2)/(R1+R2)<1.0, where R1 denotes the radius of curvature of the surface of the first lens on the object side, and R2 denotes the radius of curvature of the surface of the first lens on the image side.
